The hosts beat them in a thrilling run chase by four wickets, with Virat Kohli showing his aggressive nature with the bat and Dinesh Karthik rolling back the years with his devastating finishing touch. Meanwhile, KKR would have breathed a sigh of relief after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their opening game at the Eden Gardens. Setting a target of 209, KKR were in total control of the game when SRH needed 76 runs off the final four overs. However, Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed threatened to snatch the game from KKR’s jaws of defeat, only for young bowler Harshit Rana to hold his nerve in the final over and help his side register a nervy four-run win. Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed, however, threatened to rip the game away from KKR, but Harshit Rana, a rookie bowler, held his composure in the last over to assist his team secure a nerve-wracking four-run victory.
